Описание: Студентка юридического факультета Дарби Шоу, узнав об убийстве двух членов Верховного суда США, начинает копаться в архивах и составляет свою версию того, кто может быть причастен к этому преступлению. Материалы, изложенные в досье, ее преподаватель и, по совместительству, любовник передает своему приятелю — консультанту ФБР. После чего преподавателя-любовника взрывают в собственной машине. А на Дарби начинается настоящая охота.
В поисках выхода она связывается с темнокожим журналистом влиятельной газеты Грэем Грантом и рассказывает ему содержание досье. Оказывается, дело имеет глубокую предысторию, связанную с нефтью и коррупцией. Нити этой истории тянутся в Белый Дом…
